About me

I’ve lived a life that’s full, I’ve traveled each and every highway. But more, much more than this I did it my way.
— FRANK SINATRA, MY WAY

Since I was very young, I have always loved beautiful things. My first passions were clothes, decor, old black & white movies, and beautiful designs from the 20th century. As a toddler I was often taken to museums like the V&A, given a sketch pad and pencils by my favourite cousin, and would draw the pieces of vintage clothing in their ornate glass cases.

We played hopscotch and roller-skated in the streets of Islington for fun. We were all first generation immigrant kids aged from about 6 to 12; Chinese, Irish, Greeks, Italians, and the new kids on the block, the Nigerian family next door.... we were all multiracial and multi-caste friends. These things influenced me from the year dot. All our parents worked 2 or 3 jobs a day. Mother, being a seamstress made all my designs. I was about 8 years old when I designed my loveheart hotpants. She made my designs a reality. Years later, after finishing art school, I become a designer for well-known brands, working and living all over the world, from New York to India.

My blog is about beautiful things - whether it’s a house or a beach - as well as about my own work and designs - like my plates and t-shirts, or pictures I have taken old-school style with a 35mm camera, and hand printed.

I dream of toast - well not literally - but I always say to my partner that I can’t wait to get up in the morning and have my Marmite toast and coffee. I have always loved toast since I was little kid growing up in London. My parents are Turkish Cypriots; hence my name Suna which means Swan in Turkish……………..so there you have it: Suna and Toast!
